This month the Red Caribaea heliconia is blooming. Red Carib, as we call it, start blooming around the end of February and keep blooming into early May. They grow to be about 12′ to 18′ tall and love the sun. Once cut and cleaned they are perfect for bouquets. The shelf life after cutting is approximately 3 weeks, sometimes a little longer if you’ve changed the water and recut the stem.

Caribaea heliconia also comes in other colors such as Gold (yellow in color), Flash (a mix of green and yellow) and the “prince of darkness” (a deep dark red). Look for the Red Caribaea in our Mother’s Day gift boxes, it’s sure to please!
